I see you!

Yes Y-O-U, sitting there reading this blog on your smartphone feeling disconnected from others. It could be you're in a room full of strangers or even people you know. How is it you feel so lonely when there are so many around? You glance up and see some in conversation yet others sitting by themselves looking down at their phones. Or maybe you're sitting at home reading this on your laptop late at night wishing you had someone to share your time with. Instead, you just feel alone. It may feel too scary to reach out and tell another how you feel. Maybe you're paralyzed in fear to approach the group of people you know and join the conversation. To be vulnerable. To put yourself out there. "What will they think of me?" "Will I say something stupid?" "Do I have anything to contribute?" I know because I've been there. Sometimes it's easier to sit there in misery - but is it? Sitting in fear only prolongs the pain.

I'm here to tell you - I see you!

Maybe you're asking yourself "What does she see?" Well that's easy! I see your brilliance. I see your beauty. I see a brother and/or sister. I see a being wanting connection. I see your strengths and courage. I see the stories you wear because you're too damn afraid to be your Self. I see all that you are - a Divine soul.

A Course in Miracles says "What you perceive in others you are strengthening in yourself". Can you commit to seeing what's working/going right - all the good this life has to offer?

All it takes is a willingness to see things differently. At one time those fears/instincts may have been useful for survival.  The question is, "Are they now?" If the answer is "No" then you don't need them. Then what? For me, I ask my creator for right thinking/seeing. I ask my Higher Power to remove the fears that no longer serve me. This is a process and may not happen over night. But it does work!

How do I know this? Because it's worked for me. I used to be too fearful to be vulnerable and speak to others - especially sober. Now I purposefully put my phone (aka security blanket) away to engage with groups of people. Does the fear creep in? You bet. But I don't have to be ruled by it.

Answer the following questions in the comments below:

  • What do you want to strengthen?
  • What are you willing to focus on?
  • How do you create your life?
